Have you ever booted your computer up to a
message like this?
|
Operating
System Not Found! |
Or perhaps you have had a floppy disk, zip
disk, or other removable media simply go bad. Perhaps you can not
get to your important files because of a virus, or--the most common reason
of all--you or someone else deleted them!
No matter why the data is gone, did you
realize that most of the time it can be recovered? Yes -- the data
you lost because of that nasty computer virus can be recovered and put
back just like it was when you last worked with it!
How is that possible?
It is possible because most of the time when
files are deleted, the data itself is actually still intact.
You see, your computer operates just like
you and I do when we are trying to go somewhere we have never been before.
We need directions that tell us how to get there. The computer is no
different; it can only find files that it has directions to.
For example, let us say you had directions
on how to get to a great restaurant in Canada. If someone destroyed
your directions you would not be able to get to the restaurant BUT the
restaurant would still be there.
The same is true of your data. When a file
is deleted the directions to the file are deleted - not the actual file.
The good news is that until the actual disk space is used by something
else, the file is actually still there - and we can recover it for you.
If your computer has suffered a physical
media failure, your hard disk drive will need to go to a clean room where
the data can be recovered. We currently do not have a clean room;
however, if we determine that your drive needs to go to a clean room for
recovery we will be glad to recommend one to you.
The most important thing you can do after a
data loss is not to use the computer at all until you
have consulted a professional. (By the way, most thirteen-year-old nephews
are not professionals). Simply turn the computer off and give us a
call.
